Carney was born on May 30, 1922 in Sedalia, MO the son of Carney and Viola (Blatterman) Simpson who preceded him in death. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving during WWII and the Korean Conflict before being honorably discharged in 1946. On April 13, 1945, in Sedalia, MO he married Evelyn Maxine Johnson, who preceded him in death on July 13, 2017. In 1972 he retired from Reading Brass Company as a sales representative and was a member of the United Church of Christ of Fulton, MO. Carney enjoyed flying and was a private pilot from 1963-1971. He also had the honor of going to Washington, DC with the Central Missouri Honor Flight in 2018.
Survivors include: his two sons, Thomas Russell Simpson (Linda) of St. Charles, MO and William Carney Simpson (Sarah) of Granite City, IL; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In accordance to Mr. Carney Simpson’s wishes, he will be cremated. There will be no services.
