Robert Lee Barnes Sr

Funeral services, officiated by Pastor Bruce Williamson will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Fulton. The family will receive guests from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Robert was born on April 16, 1931 in Holts Summit, Missouri to the late Herman and Mary Bell Branch Barnes. He was married to Ruth M. Wilmsmeyer on December 31, 1957 in Callaway County and she survives.

Robert served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and had worked at Callaway Hills Horse Stables, Fulton State Hospital, Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital, as a truck driver and also at Meadowlake Acres Country Club until his retirement.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing music with his band, playing horseshoes and baseball and hosting dinners at his home.

Robert is also survived by sons, William Barnes, Sr. of Fulton, Robert Lee Barnes, Jr. of Rhineland, Missouri and Russell Barnes of Fulton; daughter, Julie Martin of Fulton; brother, Richard Barnes of Fulton; sisters, Thelma Brown of Williamsburg, Dorothy (Joe) Hazlett of Williamsburg and Lucille Malone of Columbia, Missouri; grandchildren, Teddy Underwood, William (Katherine) H. Barnes, Jr., Russell Barnes, Alvin Barnes, David (Jamie) Shull and Thomas (Crystal) Shull; twelve great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

He was also preceded in death by brothers, Rollie, Bill and Ralph Barnes; sisters, Mary Barnes, Annie Goff and Lela White; grandchildren, Cory Barnes and Courtney Barnes and son-in-law, David Martin.
