Funeral Services for Clinton W. McCarver, 93, of Gadsden will be held at Collier-Butler Funeral home Chapel on Wednesday, February 27th, 2013. Mr. McCarver passed away at his home on February 23rd, 2013 where he was surrounded by his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Bishop Tony Smith of the North Gadsden Church of God will conduct the funeral service. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services in charge of arrangements.
Mr. McCarver was born in Etowah County and lived the majority of his life in North Gadsden. He was a devoted father and a devout man of God who loved his family and his church. He was the eldest member of the North Gadsden Church of God, where he taught the adult Sunday school class for 50 years. He was also the salutatorian of his graduating class at Gaston High School. After graduating he attended Gadsden Business College where he received his degree in accounting. One of his greatest joys in life was producing a beautiful vegetable garden each summer. He was a veteran of World War II. He served in the Navy on board the Destroyer Escort USS Straub. He loved his pets Missy, Blackie, and Spotty very much.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Eunetta McCarver; son, Gary McCarver; daughter-in-law, Mary Louise McCarver; mother, Margie McCarver; father, Stonewall McCarver; brothers, Huey and Edward McCarver; sisters-in-law, Edith and Maggie Mae McCarver.
He is survived by his daughters, Phyllis (Don) Bradford, Sybil (Richard) Bynum, Linda Kaye (Fred) Bishop, and Anita McCarver; grandchildren, Michael McCarver, Chris (Kristi) Bradford, Kim (Michael) Dalesandro, Jennifer Bradford, Scott (Iris) Bishop, and Adam Bishop; great grandchildren, Nicolas and Olivia Bradford, Madison and Anthony Dalesandro, Drake Bishop, Bella Kade Bishop, Stephen and Lilliana Grell.
Pallbearers will be family. Honorary Pallbearers will be Alacare Hospice and Home Health with very special thanks to Kelly Usry RN, Lyndsi Flanagan RN, Suzanne Smith RN, Lisa Lasseter RN, and Dr. Debora Reiland for their awesome care and compassion. The family would also like to express to Michael how much we appreciate the love that you have shown to daddy as his caregiver over the past several months.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made the North Gadsden Church of God Building Fund, 704 Hooks Lake Road, Gadsden, AL 35901.
The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
