James "Jim" Curtis Keenum Jr., age 75, of Rainbow City, Alabama passed away on Sunday, September 12, 2021. A private family service was held on Tuesday, September 14, 2021. Burial was in Crestwood Cemetery. Collier Butler Funeral Home directed services.
Jim was born in Etowah County, lived in Piedmont for several years, then moved back to Rainbow City to his family's farm. While living in Piedmont, he opened Buy Wise (which later became Alaco) Pharmacy. He had worked as a pharmacist for 50 years. He was also a veteran having served with the Army. He will always be remembered as a kind, giving person, who loved his customers, coworkers, and most especially his family. He would do anything for anyone, without ever expecting anything in return. He loved animals and had raised horses, Border Collies, sheep and any other animal that happened to show up. His best friend was his dear Dachshund, Bradley.
He is preceded in death by his parents James Curtis Keenum, Sr. and Louise Medlin Keenum.
Her is survived by his very loving wife Jo Keenum; daughters by choice Christie (Carl) Freeman and Donna Jo (Brian) Bryant and son Tony Winkles; grandchildren Darby and Kerstin Bryant, and Riley, Aubrie, and Wyatt Winkles; sister Nancy Clark; special cousin Phyllis Campbell and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Wyatt Winkles, Justin Seeger, Logan Allison, Chip Lee, Vernon Lee, Zack Roberts, Carl Freeman, and Bryan Masters.
Honorary pallbearers are his Girls at Alaco Pharmacy in Piedmont and his buddy Bradley.
Special thanks to his sitters Shirley and Betty, Dr. Russell Urich and staff, the Lee family, and the nurses and staff of Amedisys Hospice.
In Lieu of flowers the family has requested memorials be made to any charity that benefits children.
