Phyllis Ann Brace was born April 13, 1932 on her grandparent’s farm in Hope, North Dakota. She was the youngest of four children (Caroline, Dorthy, Clay and Phyllis) born to Clay and Alma Brace. Her family moved around a lot before settling in McMinnville, Oregon.
She moved to Long Beach, CA in 1954 and met Frank Filipek, who was in the navy at that time. They were married in 1956 and shortly set up their new home in Stanton, CA with their first son, Philip in 1957. The family grew in 1959 with the addition of their daughter, Karen and again in 1962 with their son Gregory. Phyllis remained in their Stanton home until 2017 even after her beloved husband Frank passed away in 2016.
Phyllis and Frank took great pride in their home and were even recognized with city beautification awards. Her flower beds and vegetable gardens were the envy of the neighborhood.
Family though was most important to Phyllis and she will always be remembered by them for the love and devotion that she showed to all of them. She is survived by her son Philip (Ana) Filipek, her daughter Karen (Todd) Beaty and her son Gregory (Kim) Filipek and all seven of her grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
After a long illness Phyllis passed away on September 9, 2021. May she now be enjoying God’s embrace.
