The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 30th, 2020 at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel in Gardendale, immediately following the visitation which is from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. Rev. Rick Hopkins, Jr. and Dr. Bill Conlee will be officiating. Burial will follow the funeral at Hopewell Cemetery at 12:30pm. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel in Gardendale.
Annette was born in Birmingham, Alabama on January 23rd, 1940. She graduated from Phillips High School, went on to the University Hospital School of Nursing, then Jefferson State Community College, and graduated from the Carraway School of Nursing in 1975 as a Registered Nurse.
Annette was married to Michael S. Patterson on December 27th, 1975; they were married for 38 wonderful years.
Annette worked at Carraway Hospital for two years, then at the Jefferson County Health Department for 22 ½ years, specializing in Pediatrics. She enjoyed loving on every baby and child that came into the clinic, as well as caring for everyone in her own family. She was always giving to those in need and selflessly donating to her church and various charities. Her main priority was spending time with her loved ones and spoiling her grandbabies.
Annette is survived by her daughter, Kelli-Ann Michelle Butts (Matt), three beautiful grandchildren: Karis Makenzie, J.T., and Logan Michael Butts, her sister, Betty J. Strassner, her brothers Larry Hopkins and Phillip Hopkins (Shirl), her sisters-in-law Bobbye Hopkins and Barbara Hopkins, her brother-in-law Joe Finley, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends.
Annette is preceded in death by her loving husband, Michael Patterson, her parents, Troy and Mattie Hopkins, nine of her twelve siblings, Pearl Finley, Essie, Jessie, Virgie Lee, T.J., Howard, Glenn, Nolan, and David, sister-in-law Linda Hopkins, brother-in-law Paul Strassner, niece Bridget Baer, along with many dear friends.
The family of Annette Patterson wishes to give their sincere thanks and appreciation to Wendie Echols for her dedication and love in caring for Annette, along with Brenda Johnson and Enjoli Hill from Southern Care Hospice.
