I will always remember the times we spent at GrandMa Reid’s house when we were young. Family gatherings. Meeting for lunch at Grumpy’s, when you moved to Cullman. Will miss you cuz.

Donnie Weeks and I started first grade together at Adamsville Jr. High School. We were joined in fourth grade by Roger Sanders. In fifth grade we hit the jackpot when Mitch Liddell and Jerry Entrekin walked into Mrs. Baker’s class. The five of us formed a lifetime bond. In winning basketball championships, we set records for our school, some of which were likely never broken. In winning the Jefferson County baseball championship, we rode Donnie Weeks’ big left arm and Jerry’s big bat to an undefeated season.

We stayed in touch over the years as best we could, and once a year we got together to spend a golf weekend together. Losing Donnie at 50 was devastating. Mitch left us a few years later, then our beloved Coach Standridge passed on. And now...now we have lost Jerry, one of the best athletes and one of the best people ever to come out of Adamsville. He cannot be replaced. We will miss him forever.
