Johnny A. Jones June 6, 1939 – April 11, 2014

Johnny a resident of Fultondale, AL went home to be with the Lord April 11, 2014 at the age of 74. He served our country proudly in the U.S. Army. He was also a Master Mason of the Gardendale Masonic Lodge 907 and Past Master Mason of the Warrior Lodge 848. He was a member of the of the gospel quartet “The Harvesters” in which he sang and played in for over 20 years. He was a past captain of the Fultondale Fire Department and an auxiliary police officer with the Fultondale Police Department. He retired from PEMCO Aviation Group in Birmingham. He was preceded in death by his parents Preston and Ola Mae Jones, sister Linda Jones Higginbotham. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Loris Peters Jones, son Jeffery Scott Jones (Donna), daughter Vicki Jones Scofield (Mark), Grandchildren, Andrew Scofield, Robby Scofield, Anna Jones, Austin Jones, Brothers Robert Jones, Billy Jones, Sister Marjorie Jones Culwell, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. A visitation will be held Sunday, April 13th from 5-8 at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel. Funeral Services will be on Monday, April 14th at 2:00 P.M. with interment at Oakwood Memorial Gardens.

Johnny was a fine upstanding person and an excellent piano player. I had the privilege of playing with Johnny in numerous musical venues and he will be greatly missed among his friends and fellow musicians.
