Lisa was born to Ray and Janet Owen on August 3, 1966 in Birmingham, Alabama. Her premature entrance into this world left her with some challenges in life. She courageously tackled each of them and always with a smile.
Lisa graduated from Anne Carlsen High School in North Dakota. After graduation, she began volunteering for the Ronald McDonald House in Birmingham where she answered the phone and took messages for the staff and guest families. She was very dedicated and often spent three hours in travel time to get there.
When asked about the Ronald McDonald House, Lisa would tell people that there is a bond of understanding and love between the guests, volunteers and supporters of the House. It is this bond and the presence of the children that make the House a happy place to volunteer. In the mornings, it’s like a big family telling each other what they are going to do that day. She loved it.
Lisa left her volunteering position to work as a telemarketer for HADCO. She was honored in 1989 as their Salesperson of the Year.
Lisa moved to Atlanta for a short while and then on to Augusta, Georgia where she resided at Sibor’s Manor. Lisa once again formed lasting bonds and friendships with the staff and residents; they became family. Lisa had and extraordinary love for one of the staff members, Mrs. B. (Glenda Butler) as Ms. B had for her.
Lisa attended Providence Baptist Church where they welcomed her with loving arms. She loved the church and the church demonstrated their love for her time and time again. Chris Hatchell was especially faithful and loyal and kind to Lisa. He was always there when Lisa needed him.
Lisa, her beautiful smile, infectious laugh, determination and courage will always be remembered by her family, friends and those whose lives she touched.
Lisa loved life. She lived it well, treasuring the important things, people and friendships. She was truly blessed to have them.
We love you our SWEET Lisa; you left a little sparkle wherever you went that we will remember always. We will see you in Heaven soon.
