Helen Merck Ashe, 86, of Cramerton, passed away on Tuesday, November 06, 2012 at the Robin Johnson House, Dallas. She was born in Pickens County and was the daughter of the late Jule Washington and Corrie Mitchell Merck.
Mrs. Ashe was a graduate of Central High School, Central, was a former employee of the Mayflower Plant of Burlington Industries for 33 years and then retired from the Gastonia Plant of Freightliner after 7 years of service. She was a member of the Eastern Star and White Shrine and was a member of Cramer Memorial United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Ashe is survived by one daughter, Pam Fisher and husband Randy of Iron Station, North Carolina; two grandchildren, Ryan Black and wife Nancy of Mt. Holly, North Carolina, Britt Fisher of Iron Station, North Carolina; two great grandchildren, Drew and Karter Black; two sisters, Geneva Gossett of Clemson, Imogene Head and husband John of Central; three brothers, Claude Merck and wife Hazel of Greenville, Fred Merck of Central, Mitchell Merck and wife Yvonne of Iron Station, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Lamar Quinn of Cramerton, North Carolina.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Carothers Funeral Home, Gastonia with the funeral service to be at 1:00 p. m. Thursday at The Colonial Chapel of Carothers Funeral Home with Rev. Vonn Reynolds officiating.
Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
Mrs. Ashe was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Buren Ashe; great granddaughter, Kennedy Black; three brothers, Leroy, Clarence and Austin Merck; sister, Eva Fincannon Lanier.
