

A devoted husband of 62 years, loving father and best grandfather and great grandfather, brother and friend… Serving his country in the United States Army during the Korean War while stationed in Germany where he received the Good Conduct Medal… These words say it all about a man… Joe Dean Faris passed away peacefully at the age of 80 on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 under hospice care at Caromont Regional Medical Center.
An avid Carolina Panthers fan, Joe loved watching football, gardening and spending time with his family.
He was retired from AB Carter where he was their Project Manager for 25 years.
Joe was born in Clover, South Carolina to the late Elmer Woodrow Faris and Carrie Reola Sinclair Faris.
Those left behind to cherish the memories of Joe are his loving wife Mary Jan Faris; son: Terry Faris of Gastonia, North Carolina; two daughters: Debbie Faris McPheters and husband Bob of Wilmington, North Carolina, Pamela Faris Harrison of Gainesville, Georgia; grandchildren: Lindsey Harrison Holt and husband Nathan, Sara Hare and husband James, Rion Faris, Mitchell Harrison, Matthew McPheters, Keri Faris, Ian McPheters; great grandson: Daxton Owen Holt; sister: Linda Faris Dixon and husband Roger of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina; brother: Paul Faris and wife Vicky of Sun City, North Carolina; to include, Mary Jan’s sisters, brothers, their spouses and families. Several nieces and nephews also survive along with extended family members; Karen Lowder of Charlotte, North Carolina Mike and Kay Dinius of Gastonia, North Carolina and his loyal cat “Stash” of the home.
A Celebration of Life and memories of Mr. Faris will be delivered at 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 20, 2015 in the Chapel of Carothers Funeral Home, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia, North Carolina, with Reverend John Stanley.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM in the visitation room.
Inurnment with Military Honors accorded by the Gaston County Honor Guard will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
