Rachel (Grigg) Devalle, 78, of Huntersville passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, September 12, 2018. Rachel loved to cook and garden. She made her daughter’s clothes when she was younger. Rachel and her husband loved to watch the birds. They had numerous bird feeders and they feed some birds grapes by hand. Rachel prized her roses and her tomato plants. You could often find her on the back deck listening to country music, talking with her family and enjoying life. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
Rachel is the daughter of the late Flonnie (Phillps) and Hervy Grigg.
Left to cherish her memories and to continue her legacy are her husband of 33 years, Paul Devalle; daughter Gina Hartsell-Davis; sons Richard Keith Hartsell and wife Anna and Robert “Robby” Earl Hartsell. Rachel leaves behind her grandchildren – Tara, Kelly, Miranda, Cliff, Emma and Carson. Grieving the loss of their sister are her sisters – Mary, Kay, Joyce, Sandra, Sue, Shirley and Nancy.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Rachel’s life at 1:30 PM on Tuesday September 18, 2018 at Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon to 1:30 PM before the service. Burial will follow at in the Garden of Honor at Gaston Memorial Park.
