A lot of people don't know Mr. fish took care of a lot of people that could no longer work on ships because of their health, he found positions to keep them working, he took care of all the people that worked for him, to me he made FTSCLANT DET MAYPORT more of a family than a place to just go to work everyday, just sitting back and remembering Thanksgiving and Christmas events at the command bring back happy memories.  I was hired at FTSCLANT by Mr fish, during the final stage of my military career Mr fish ensured I had the training and preparation that I needed to move on to my next career.  I always enjoyed the praise that he would give for doing a job.  Because of him I advanced very quickly in my new career.    I saw him at the JAX Zoo 6 or 7 months after he had retired from Government work, his first words after hello were "Did you get the next promotion" that he had put me in for,  even after retirement he still watched over his guys!!  I will miss him, but have fond memories of chatting with him in his office and in just passing saying hello.  He was a good Man, but he really was a GREAT MAN!!!  I was very lucky to have worked and known for him.

I met Bill in 1989. I was the Asst. TD in Charleston. I visited Bill in his Mayport office several times as well as occasionally getting together at Headquarters over the next few years until he offered me a position in Mayport. This was 1997 and I always wanted to live in Florida and Bill made that possible. Tennis seemed to be his passion sport and he managed to get me and his other supervisors to play regularly. That was fun and kept us somewhat fit. Bill was always nice to everyone and looked out for their best interests. After Bill retired in 2004, we did meet for the occasional steak and beer. And when I retired in 2012 with a small party, Bill was there. That meant a lot to me. Bill was a good and decent man to everyone he met and I will always remember my friend.

My deepest sympathy to Dorothy, Cindee, Skylar and the rest of his extended family.

I was introduced to Bill in November 2001 when he selected my resume for a short-term contractor position at Fleet Technical Support Center Atlantic (FTSCLANT), Detachment Mayport onboard Naval Station Mayport Jacksonville, FL.  Because Bill hired me, I have made many friends and have the government civil service job I have today.

Since Bill's retirement (January 2004), we kept in touch occasionally enjoying evenings w/our significant others and other FTSCLANT co-workers at Alhambra Dinner Theatre, restaurants, playing cards and at least one (maybe two) of the annual Navy League's Battle of Midway dinners (June 2014 (& maybe June 2015 also)) at the Renaissance Resort at the World Golf Village in St. Augustine, FL.  We had some great times just conversing and playing catch-up.

His life has had a ripple effect on my life in such a good way.  He was a tremendous friend w/a huge heart.  Rest in peace, my friend.

 Dear Cindee,  So sorry to hear the  the loss of your dad... Fish was such a great guy. We  always had so many good times .   He will be missed very much may he rest in peace .  Love to all . Ro and Frank
