Milburn "Mel" Arnold Yantis
October 28, 1941 – November 21, 2018
Milburn (Mel) Arnold Yantis, 77, passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 after a long but valiant fight with cancer. This fight was made possible due to the compassionate care of Dr. Sylvia Jaramillo and Dr. Shane Mills.
Mel is survived by his wife of 36+ years, Gail; his children (Walton, Allyson, Ricci and Clayton). He also leaves behind the most amazing grandchildren EVER (Parker, Kaden, Jessica, Brooke, Sara, Jaeson and Jakob). His parents, Jesse & Gertrude Yantis pre-deceased him along with his brother, Wayne Yantis. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Mel graduated from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio and went on to a long career for the State of Texas Workforce Commission. Mel has also served as a councilmember for the City of Cedar Park. After he retired he found a new calling as City Manager. He served for the City of Hutto, City of Liberty Hill and for the City of Jarrell until his last days. Mel was respected by many in Williamson County. His family extends our sincere gratitude to the Jarrell Mayor and City Council for all they did to allow Mel to continue doing what he loved every day.
Mel and Gail were fortunate enough to travel the world, in particular the last two years. Their journeys from Russia, China, Japan, and beyond are treasured memories. For many of their adventures they were joined by their children, grandchildren and close family friends. Mel enjoyed each and every trip and lived his life to the fullest. He had said many times that he was blessed to have such an amazing life.
The family is asking for donations in lieu of flowers to The Final Acts Project (TFAP), an organization that uses the arts and humanities to support advance care planning. Gail was a founding member of The Final Acts Project and continues to support their important educational mission. Memorial contributions can be sent to The Final Acts Project at 14455 Santa Rita, Helotes, Texas 78923 or www.finalactsproject.org. You will see his name on the website or include his name in a check

I have heard from so many people. I was a very blessed woman to have him in my life for over 36 years. He was kind, considerate, and loving. I miss him so much but hearing how he touched other lives helps a bit. Looking forward to sharing his memory on Saturday.
