Nelma Arlene (Toney) Wilkinson

She is survived by daughter, Moya Jan Green and husband John; granddaughter, Hillary Page Foster; grandson, John S. Green II (Deuce) and Leslie; great granddaughters, Kinsee Larae Tumlinson, Madeline Evelyn Foster, and Bailee Ann Green; nieces, Madelene Toney, Anne Toney, Mary Helen Haney, Martha Cunningham, and Patricia Moore; and nephews, Charles Doughtie, William David Toney, and William Thomas Toney III.

She is preceded in death by husband, L.V. Wilkinson; parents; brothers, William Thomas Toney, Jr., Vinnis Perry Toney and Harvard Beeson Toney; and sisters, Helen Marie Toney and Demp Toney.

Nelma was born in the Volga Community in Houston County on June 6, 1925. She was the fifth child of William Thomas Toney and Ida Ora Leonard Toney. After graduating from Alice High School in Alice, Texas, she worked in Austin at Scarbroughs department store. On January 14, 1945 she married L. V. (Whitey) Wilkinson in Alice, Texas. They lived most of their lives in Premont, Texas as an oilfield family. In 1981 they retired to Georgetown, Texas.

Nelma was a member of the Georgetown Church of Christ. She volunteered in many areas including the hospital auxiliary in Georgetown. She loved quilting and antiquing. Nelma was a sixth generation Texan, including membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Daughters of the Confederacy, as well as Daughters of 1812. In 2005-2007 Nelma served as the State President for the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. Family was the most important part of her life.

A graveside service celebrating her life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Georgetown, Texas.
