With broken hearts we announce the passing of Joyce Gwendolyn Daley, 86, of Glace Bay on September 26th at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with her loving family by her side. Joyce was the daughter of the late Phyllis and Gordon Wadden of Port Morien and moved to Glace Bay where she married and raised four children: Linda (Bob) Collez, of Georgia; Joyce Ann (Brian) Hooper, of Glace Bay; Nancy (Gary) Eichenberger of Ontario and Michael (Sharon) Clarke of Ontario. Joyce was a longtime member of Newsom United Church where she spent many years in the Choir.

Joyce married the late Ranald Daley and lived in London, Ontario for twenty happy years before returning back to their beloved Cape Breton roots.

Joyce lived with gratitude for the many blessings that flowed her way. Her joyful spirit made it a pleasure for others to be in her company and her sterling sense of humour is unmatched. There are many great memories of her singing and dancing at family gatherings. She is remembered by her children as " The strongest female we have ever known." Joyce had a loyalty to her family that was unsurpassed. She is survived by her Sisters: Delores (the late Danny) MacLeod, Phyllis (Joseph) Marsh, Alma (the late Cameron) MacPherson, and Muriel (Ron) Walsh; and brothers: Buddy (Valerie) Wadden and Wayne (Arlene) Wadden. She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law the late Mora and Richard Walton. She will be sorrowfully missed by her dance and fashion partners, granddaughters Krista Hooper and Amanda (Shawn) Thurbide as well as ten additional grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Joyce had a special spot in her heart for her youngest granddaughter, Sarah Collez; and enjoyed Candy Kisses from her great granddaughter Ann Marie Thurbide. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday October 1,2019 at 1pm in Patten Funeral Home Chapel 71Union St Glace Bay. We will forever cherish memories of Christmases shared. Family, food (including the baking, of course!), the reading of The Night Before Christmas and sing-along carols! Grandma and Grandpa Daley were always first to arrive on Christmas morning - even before any of us had gotten out of bed! Sending lots of love and deepest condolences.

Although we didn't know Joyce personally, through our friend Nancy, we learned about what a great lady her mom was. Our deepest condolences to the entire family.
