Floyd “Zip” Herman Zipfel of Gladstone, Missouri passed away October 30th, 2018 at North Kansas City Hospital. Floyd was born October 3rd, 1928 in Evansville, Illinois to Sylvester and Marie Zipfel. He married Joyce Branson on November 12, 1949 and raised their four children in Red Bud, Illinois. Floyd served briefly in the Navel Reserves before starting his 40 year career with Norfolk Southern Railroad. Once retired, Floyd enjoyed traveling with friends and family, listening and collecting all genres of music, and was best known for his jokes and quick wit.
Floyd is survived by his brothers Glen Zipfel and Vern Zipfel, his four children, John & Sheila Zipfel, Tony & Nancy Zipfel, Peggy & Bob Castro, and David Zipfel, his six grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, November 9 starting at 1 pm, funeral services will begin at 2 pm and will be followed directly by burial all at White Chapel Funeral Home and Cemetery.
