Mark Edwin Burkhammer passed away on November 19th at 5:00AM in Gladstone, MO following a battle with ALS, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

Mark was born on May 23, 1964 in Bellefontaine, OH to Willie Isaac Burkhammer and Marylin Lee Langstaff Burkhammer. He served in the Air Force from 1982 to 1990 as a jet engine mechanic and part of first, the 74th specialist flight and then the 23rd Tactical Fighter Wing England AFB. He graduated from DeVry University in 2004 with a degree in Telecommunications Networking. Mark married Sherry Griffith on May 17, 2002 after moving to Kansas City, MO. Mark worked for Fidelity National Information Service, Inc aS a Network Engineer until 2008 and then, but most favored position, North Kansas City Schools as a school bus driver where he was able to participate in the growth of many children. He was active in Boy Scouts for many years and fully enjoyed the opportunity to work with the boys and other parents in helping to support them and grow into successful young men. He was a generous man who loved the opportunity to serve and help others.

Mark is survived by his mother Marilyn Maslin, wife Sherry, children Zachary Griffith and Nicholas Burkhammer, brothers Michael Burkhammer/Martina and Marty Burkhammer/Jayma, sister-in-law Kelly White/Mark and many nieces and nephews.

Mark was preceded in death by his father Willie Burkhammer and son Grant Broughton.

I remember how much fun Mark was at church. He ran our PowerPoint for the service. He would help the kids and always have the Boy Scouts do honors on holidays.
Mark was always super friendly and a super person to have as a friend. God definitely bless us with Mark’s presence.
