Eddie was a self-made man, always relying on his wit and own hard work. He remained youthful until the end. He proudly served his country as a Bosun in the Merchant Marines during WWII. In 1987, he co-founded Payless Auto Glass with his son John, and remained involved and interested ever since. Their employees loved and respected him and often referred to him as “Uncle Eddie”. All those close to Eddie knew him to be kind-hearted and very generous, though he often hid behind a gruff exterior.
Eddie is survived by his long-time partner Barbara Saccardo of Glastonbury, his son John Wisniewski of Glastonbury, his daughter Joanna Cooper and her husband Patrick of Norwalk, and his grandchildren Myles, Emma, Madelyn, and Brianna. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Helen Norris.
Visitation will be from 4-7pm on Tuesday, May22 at the Glastonbury Funeral Home, 450 New London Turnpike, Glastonbury. Funeral Services will begin Wednesday, May 23, 9am at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10am, at SS Cyril & Methodius Church, 55 Charter Oak Avenue, Hartford.
