Wayne C. Jahn

December 9, 1954January 5, 2019

Wayne Jahn, 64, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Delta Memorial Hospital in Delta, Colorado. Wayne was born in 1954 in Hartford, CT, and graduated from Glastonbury High School in 1972. He worked for the Glastonbury Parks and Rec Department, Hoffend Decorators as a set up coordinator for entertainment events, and for many years as a painting contractor. Wayne’s fondest memories include coaching a girls’ youth basketball team in Delta, and when he sang and played the drums with the local band, Spring Water Still (if you listen to the wind you can still hear him play). Wayne will always be remembered for his quick humor, spontaneous laugh, and larger than life personality. He was at his best when surrounded by his friends and family always telling a joke or making someone laugh. Wayne had a compassionate, caring heart and always made himself available to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Wayne was the eldest son of Nancy and Carl H. Jahn. He is survived by his father Carl Jahn and his partner Marion Eriksen of Delta, CO; his brother Larry and wife Patricia Jahn of Kensington, CT; and his brother Karl and wife Stacey Jahn of Andover, CT. He also leaves behind, with heavy hearts, his nieces and nephews Matthew, Jonathan, Sienna and LuAnna Jahn. Wayne was predeceased by his mother, Nancy Collins Jahn. All are welcome to attend a period of visitation on Thursday, January 17, 2019, 4-6:30PM at Glastonbury Funeral Home, 450 New London Tnpk., Glastonbury, CT., with a service celebrating Wayne's life to immediately follow at 6:30pm at the funeral home. Dear Wayne,
I have known you for 52 years, since I was 3yrs old. You have been my babysitter, my brother, my roommate, and my dearest friend. I remember you as a musician (banging on the drums, the table, my leg) a football player, and jock with souped up cars! lol, a Glastonbury parks and Recreation worker, and one of the Three Mile road gang. A constant was always your smile, and your upbeat personality, always had a glass half full! You have always given me encouragement, and a pat one the back or a hug when I needed one. I will miss you, and you will forever be in my heart and my memories. Mr. Jahn, Carl, and Larry, I am deeply sorry for your loss of a Son, and a brother, and my friend.

To the entire Jahn families,
My recollections of Wayne go way back to our days at GHS and a few years beyond.
Always enjoyed his company as a friend with our same interests and many mutual friends. We also shared a deep and heart-felt love for Colorado. Wayne was always quick witted and had a hearty laugh and will be dearly missed. I will always remember Wayne as one of the "good guys"; fun to be with.....

Deepest condolences to all who knew and loved Wayne.
Most sincerely,

To Carl and all of Wayne's sorry to hear of Wayne's passing. My heart is with you. Wayne was a great guy with a magnetic and warm personality. Few are like him! I first met Wayne back in the 80s when he was practicing alone at Glastonbury HS field for a punter tryout with the Washington Redskins. I think he later had a tryout with the Tampa Bay Bucs. I wrote a couple of articles about him then and recenty gave Carl some copies. He could kick the ball a mile. Whenever Wayne was around, there were a lot of good stories and laughs. Rest in peace, Wayne, you will be greatly missed.

Wayne entered our life as a caregiver for my father and took such good care of my father and my house while we were away. Upon return Wayne stayed on as a live in caregiver. A few months before my father passed we rented a large SUV and hit the road for Las Vegas and we had a blast. Great memories! He is in our lives forever. RIP Wayne.

Sarah and I are so saddened to hear the news of Wayne's passing.
We always appreciated his jokes and humor and used to have a lot of fun exchanging funny text messages and trying to figure out how to "out do" his cleverness over our morning coffee.
Please know that you all are in our thoughts.

Much Love to family,

Don and Sarah

I was so saddened and heartbroken to hear of Cousin Wayne's passing. Wayne combined the unique qualities of being such a gentle soul, yet faced adversity with a dignified fortitude. His frequent and genuine laugh along with his optimistic perspective will forever be missed. My love, thoughts, and prayers to Uncle Carl, Cousin Larry, Cousin Karl, and your wonderful families.

We were first cousins, and we we were friends. Wayne was an inspiration to me. He faced life’s hardships with grace, humility, and most of all, a keen sense of humor. Wayne always brought a smile to my face and joy to my heart. I was blessed to have him in my life, and I am heartbroken that he is gone too soon.

My best to the entire Jahn family on the untimely passing of Wayne. Fond memories of growing up on Three Mile Road and always hearing his drumming when we walked around the circle. His spirit was always welcoming and warming. I am sure he will be sorely missed.
