Craig Lea Albrecht was born in Princeton, Illinois in 1953 to his loving and dedicated parents, Weldon and Evalyn. Craig was born with Cerebral Palsy but that didn't stop him from learning to walk at age two. In 1958, Craig moved with his family to Denver where he was given opportunities for growth and development at the United Cerebral Palsy Center. He enjoyed activities such as trips to the zoo, horseback riding, swimming lessons, fishing and workshop. He loved school!
Craig and his sisters, Christa and Gretchen, had a loving and caring relationship. They spent time putting puzzles together and watching Lassie or Andy Griffith on TV. Craig loved animals, and looked at animal books and magazines and worked puzzles throughout his lifetime. There were many fun camping and fishing trips and time spent batting the ball and throwing Frisbee. Another pastime of Craig's was talking and visiting with his family and others. His favorite topics were animals, fishing and the latest bank robber. We had a lot of fun laughing and loving on Craig. He had a caring and sweet spirit, and his smile spread a lot of joy even to strangers.
In 1984, Craig moved with his parents back to Illinois where Craig would have the opportunity to be near the farm animals and all his relatives. It was a precious time and he even played Santa Claus at the Albrecht Christmas. He traveled across the states with his Mom and Dad making friends along the way, and even traveled to Alaska where he saw bears and caribou.
There was yet another family move to Arizona in the early 2000's where Craig had loving caregivers. They were truly family to Craig and again he got to participate in many different adventures; baseball and football games, plays that his friend was in, and a wonderful school. Craig's family visited him often. He shared so much more JOY than we could have ever given Craig! We can learn so much from Craig as he didn’t judge people but loved them for who they are.
Craig journeyed on to be with the Lord on March 24, 2020. Craig's Mother, Evalyn, preceded Craig to heaven in Aug. 2018. Craig is survived by his father, Weldon, his sisters Christa (Mike) Green and Gretchen Endres and John. Craig's nieces are Jaylyn, Jamie, Jessica, Brooke and Mikayla and his great niece's Valentina and Malia.
