Annie Inez Longmire

Inez’s early education began at Nichburg Elementary School. She also attended Conech County Training School, ,Alabama State College, and Los Angeles Trade Technical College in Los Angeles, California.

Born with a kind, helping spirit, Inez originally planned to become a school teacher, but marriage and family interrupted her educational pursuits. So after putting family first, she re-entered college and became a licensed vocational nurse.

In 1954, Inez married her high school sweet heart and senior prom date(Lee Weldon Longmire, Sr.) To this union four children were born: Cynthia Diann, Lee, Floretta(Retta) and Kenneth.

Inez later in life met and married Wayne Lorenzo King.

Christ remained an anchoring force in Inez’s life as was evident by her Christian walk. She was the spiritual matriarch for her family and led four of her grandchildren and countless others to Christ. Her commitment to the Lord and passion for ministry is a part of the rich legacy she leaves with us. Inez faithfully participated in a bi-weekly ongoing prayer line(Grace Apafi,Organizer) and was the prayer leader for the prayer line on Friday nights.

Inez loved St. Stephens Missionary Baptist Church and served in many capacities. She was lead teacher in Sunday school class 219 along with her co-teacher Lois Steverson. Inez was active in Missions, Golden Circle, the Nurse’s Guild, and had previously been a part of the Senior Choir.

Inez actively participated in prayer circles. At New Providence Missionary Baptist Church(where she was formerly a member) under the leadership of Rev. Luther Howard, she served as Church Trustee, Sunday School Teacher, and re-organized the Nurses Guild.

She loved Christ and having Christian fellowship with all in attendance. She loved St. Stephens yearly church picnics and going on mission trips to Glorieta, New Mexico.

Our family soul aches in her absence. Life won’t be the same without her. Never would have been too soon.

She is survived by her son Lee Longmire Jr. aka “Bubba” of Gardena, CA, Cynthia Diann(John)of Chino Hills, Ca, Floretta aka “Retta” of West Covina, CA, and Sgt. Kenneth F. Longmire(Jackie) of Midlothian, Va. Grandsons: Trevelyn Marley(Tisa)(Courtney). John Michael Hicks(Mona),and Granddaughters: Cherie Cofer(Cory), Dana Nicole Hicks, all of Southern California. Alicia Longmire, Desiree Longmire, and Jacqueline Christina Longmire, all of Midlothian, Virginia. She is also survived by her church family, other relatives biological and spiritually adopted, prayer partners and all that knew and loved her.
