Beatrice Lorraine McLellan

Siblings: Verlyn (Bud), Eugene, Yvonne (all deceased). All three attended grade school at a rural, one room schoolhouse in Strum, Wisconsin. Bea also attended a rural, one room grade school in Strum. She graduated from the Strum-Eleva high school. She spent her growing-up years on a dairy farm, operated by her parents, also in the Strum area. After Bea’s high school graduation, she married James Berton McLellan on July 12, 1952.

After graduating from high school, she enrolled in Luther Hospital’s Registered Nursing program, located in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. In September- 1963, the family moved to California, near Los Angeles. After renting for a year, the family purchased a house in Glendora, CA.

Bea enrolled in a Registered Nursing program at California State University in Fullerton, CA. After graduating from Cal State with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nursing, she was employed by Foothill Presbyterian Hospital in Glendora.

After being employed by Foothill Presbyterian for thirty years, she retired. During Bea’s employment as a Registered Nurse at Foothill Presbyterian Hospital, she managed to rotate her nursing duties in all the nursing departments. During Bea’s final years at Foothill Presbyterian, she organized the Home Health-Care for the hospital. As Director of the unit, she managed the duties of several staff nurses.

After retirement, Bea spent considerable time and effort quilting blankets and throws. She enjoyed reading, crosswords puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. Her travels included Mexico City, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, England, Scotland, Ireland and Switzerland.

Beatrice Lorraine McLellan passed on May 17, 2020 in San Dimas, CA. Her loving husband James survives her, along with their six children (Colleen, Jeffery, Glenn, Kathleen, Andrew and Loren) who blessed her with ten grandchildren. Beatrice’s funeral service will be held at Oakdale Mortuary and she will be laid to rest at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, CA.
