Charles “Pete” Bourque, a native and resident of Gonzales, passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at the age of 84. Pete served 24 years as Chief of Police for the City of Gonzales. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, a past president of IACP, and a member of the East Ascension Sportsman League. Pete belonged to the Knights of Columbus Council 2657 and served as an usher at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church. Pete is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen Johnson Bourque; daughters, Gerrilyn McCool and Celeste Carmouche and husband, Terry; sons, Jeff Bourque and wife, Sheila, Bruce Bourque and wife, Tammi, Nathan Bourque and wife, Suzanne; grandchildren, David Carmouche, Tim Carmouche, Jackie McCool, Jared Bourque, Josh Fontenot, Kalli Holston, Nathan M. Bourque, Grant Bourque; great grandchildren, Lily Bourque, Cailyn Carmouche, Brooklyn Carmouche, Baylee Fontenot, Brennan Fontenot, Cayden Holston, Finley Bourque, River Bourque, Kinsley Holston; brothers, Kenneth Bourque, Kermit “Hart” Bourque and Conrad Bourque. Pete is preceded in death by his parents, Germain “Man” and Leona Bourque; son, Charles Michael Bourque; grandsons, Brennan McCool and Jay Bourque. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Ourso Funeral Home of Gonzales from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Visitation will resume on Friday, December 21, 2018 at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church from 9:00 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am.
