Clarence J. Elisar, Sr. “Soupy”, a native and resident of Dutchtown, died on July 22, 2021 at the age of 83. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a retired Deputy Chief from the Baton Rouge Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Earline Anderson Elisar; son-in-law, Jerry Carter; parents, Sims and Hettie Elisar; sisters, Ruth Chaney, Gertie Poche, Nina Faye and Mary Ann Elisar; brothers, Edmond, Ray, Sims Jr, Donald, Allen, and Paul Elisar.
He is survived by four daughters, Tammy (Rickie) Mayer, Patti (Mike) French, Terri Carter, and Gwen (Tim) Poche; one son, C.J. (Donna) Elisar; two brothers, Kerney and Melvin Elisar; one sister Edna Mae Tims; 14 grandchildren, Nicole Mayer Robert, Miranda Mayer Mumphrey, Brant Mayer, Ashley Elisar, Lexi Elisar Bourgeois, Brad French, Ryan French, Rachel French Schmidt, Jennifer Carter Richardson, Patrick Carter, Jonathan Carter, Emily Poche, Anna Poche, David Poche; and 15 great grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation which will be held at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales, LA on July 27, 2021 from 9:00 am to 11:30 am. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Jeff Lee at Ourso Funeral Home (Chapel Room) at 11:30 am followed by a private Entombment at Hope Haven Mausoleum, Prairieville, LA.
Pallbearers will be Brant Mayer, Patrick and Jonathan Carter, David Poche, Brad and Ryan French, and Kale Everett. Honorary pallbearers will be Jude Robert and Cayden Jones.
The family would like to thank The Carpenter House St. Joseph Hospice in Baton Rouge for their care and compassion.
