Betty Jean Elizabeth Guelde, age 90, of Kissimmee, Florida, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2020. Betty Jean was born on October 23, 1929, in Flatrock Township, Ohio. She was the daughter of John and Esther (Schlotterback) Eis. Betty owned and operated Discount Building Supply in Summerfield, Florida, with her late husband, Richard Frederick Guelde. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, John Eis and Marvin Eis; Sisters, Evelyn Shorts, Jeannette Brinks, Karen Meyers, and Ruth Oakley. She is survived by her sons, John Guelde and Bob Guelde; daughters, Cindi Farmer, Debi Welbon, Charlie Kelley, and Lisa Wilson; Sister, Donna Curtis; Twenty-seven grandchildren, seventy great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

Private services will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to the Good Samaritan Butterfly Garden in Kissimmee, Florida. Good Samaritan Society, 4250 Village Drive, Kissimmee, FL 34746.

Biography

When someone is identified as a natural leader, certain images come to mind. First thoughts are of a no-nonsense, tough-minded, dedicated, and disciplined person. This description accurately fits Betty Jean Elizabeth Guelde, who was indeed a guiding light for so many she touched in her life. She will be remembered as being highly organized, practical, and realistic. She was a person who always carried a strong sense of duty with her throughout her life. Possessed with traditional “old school” morals, Betty was an individual who clearly communicated to those around her just who she was and what she was all about. Everyone acquainted with Betty knew her as a well-respected woman who was a stable force in her community.

She was born on October 23, 1929, in Flatrock Township, Ohio, the daughter of John and Esther Eis. Betty was raised in Ohio. Even as a youngster, Betty learned to be objective and decisive. Her faith in the principles of authority and dependability was something that she carried with her throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Frederick Guelde, in 2006; Brothers, John Eis and Marvin Eis; Sisters, Evelyn Shorts, Jeannette Brinks, Karen Meyers, and Ruth Oakley.

In her spare time, she loved spending time with her family. Betty's memorable achievements included raising six beautiful children. Betty was ever watchful of her children. She worried about them and was genuinely concerned about their development as they grew up. She maintained a firm hand in their upbringing. Betty would give her stamp of approval to their requests, as long as she could see how they might benefit. She also could enforce the rules as needed to ensure that her children were properly raised. Betty was blessed with six children, sons, John Guelde and Bob Guelde; daughters, Cindi Farmer, Debi Welbon, Charlie Kelley, and Lisa Wilson. She is also survived by her sister, Donna Curtis, and was blessed with 27 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

Betty passed away on July 30, 2020, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Kissimmee, Florida, at the age of 90.

Private services will be held at a later date.
