OBITUARY

W. Marie Henisa

January 19, 1923October 10, 2021

Wilma Marie Huffman Henisa passed from this world into the arms of Heaven on October 10, 2021. She was 98.

Marie was born in Winchester, IN, on January 19, 1923, to Oliver and Cynthia Huffman. She was raised on their dairy farm, the youngest of 7 children. She attended Winchester High School. On November 1, 1945, she wed Elmer Franklin Henisa after he returned a decorated soldier, having sustained injuries from his service during WWII. He had proposed to her in a letter while fighting in Europe.

The following year, they moved to Canton, OH, where Elmer became a master upholsterer, and, along with his Army buddy, opened up Home Art Upholstery. They worked and lived in North Canton, OH, for 40 years, before retiring to Winter Park, FL. They were married for nearly 62 years before Elmer preceded Marie in death on October 4, 2007.

Marie was a poodle groomer and homemaker. She always remained a country girl at heart, enjoying gardening, flowers, butterflies and birds. She loved all animals, especially their beloved poodles. She also enjoyed many hobbies, including ceramics, flower-making and crafts.

They were founding members of First Friends Church in Canton, OH, and Marie later became a member of Winter Park Church once they retired to Orlando.

Their greatest earthly joy was on June 18, 1965, the day they adopted their two daughters, Sandra Kay Hubert (Bob), of Petersburg, OH, and Jane Fay Bokhart (Mark), of Orlando, FL. Sandra was 9 years old and Jane had just turned 6. On June 18, 2021, Marie still celebrated that special family day with Jane 56 years later at Westminster Towers, over a piece of carrot cake!

Marie and Elmer’s second greatest earthly treasures were their 3 precious grandchildren: twin grandsons, Jarrod Cameron Bokhart and Evan Arthur Bokhart (Mecee), and granddaughter, Dana Marie Duran (Rick).

Funeral arrangements and interment are with Woodlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Rd, Gotha, FL 34734, at 1:00 on Oct. 14, 2021.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to Edgewood Center for Children and Families (edgewood.org), Gideons International (gideons.org), or The National WWII Museum (nationalww2museum.org).

I met Mrs. Henisa through Jane over 45 years ago in North Canton. The Henisas were always so welcoming to Jane's friends in their home. Jane always kept me up to date on her life, and I was so thrilled to meet up with her whenever I was in Orlando. The last time was in June of 2019 and she was as spry and with it as ever at 96 years of age! I dearly loved this sweet lady and know how much her family and friends will miss her. Heaven has certainly gained an angel.
