Veeneman (the late Curt Veeneman), Penny A, Minhinnick-Burns (Jim Burns), five grandchildren, Sarah, Julian, Jim, Schuyler, and Harley, and two great grandchildren, Aria and Julianna. Jim and Emma were enthusiastic hosts and loved to entertain at their home and on their boats. He always had a joke ready to make people smile and was involved in mischievous antics with his friends in high school and after. He initiated many get-togethers for groups of friends and family. He remembered every detail of the stories of his lifetime. Jim and his birth mother contracted tuberculosis, which claimed her life and put him in a TB sanitarium until he was 5 years old. He grew up in a log cabin built by his father and grandfather, graduated from Hale Area High School, and earned a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree from General Motors Institute (now Kettering University). He worked for General Motors, Ford, and transitioned to management of Leon Plastics in Grand Rapids in 1976. He then started his own business as a sales representative and consultant for the automotive components industry, including Lacks Industries. He then was a consultant for L&L Plastics in Grand Blanc until he was in his late seventies.
