Scott was born to parents Kenneth and Ruth Whiting (Keyser) on May 22, 1953. He was raised in Lennon Michigan by his mother Ruth and Step-Father Milo Bowden, graduating from Durand High School in 1971. After graduation he joined the Navy, proudly serving his country aboard the naval ship “USS Anchorage LSD-36“ and was a Vietnam Era Veteran. Scott volunteered the greater portion of his life to things he held dear, including coaching Jason in little league, he was active in Boy Scouts, building community playscapes, football highlights from David’s high school days and lifetime member of Chapter 175 Vietnam Veterans of America, where he found himself surrounded by amazing friends and confidants. He was well known within the community for his helping hands, and he seldom turned down an opportunity to help make someone’s vision become reality. Scott worked hard around the house too, designing and building their cherished back deck, overlooking the Koi pond he also built from scratch.
Left to cherish his memory is Wife Jacque, Sons Jason Whiting (Amanda) with granddaughter Mila, David Peet (Tanya) with granddaughters Caitlin and Lacie, Brothers Derrick Whiting, Dalon Bowden (Angie) with niece Ashlee and nephews Tyler and Nick.
Scott was preceded in death by his mother, father, and faithful k9 companions Penny and DeoGee.
