MARGARETA SOPHIA COLANGELO slipped peacefully into her eternal rest at home on October 12, 2018. She was born on March 7, 1932 in Bruehl, Germany to parents Peter and Sofie (Freudenreich) Scheuren. She is sadly missed by daughter Tubicza (Charles) Crawford, granddaughter Stephanie (Joseph) Murphy, and great-grandchildren Keiran, Eleanor, Tadhg, Aine, and Brigid. Margaret was preceded in death by her mother, father, sister Hiltrude, husband Karol Serbu, beloved companion William Sacco, and best friend Elfriede Karkkainen.
Margaret was a survivor who outlived the Nazis and World War II. She emigrated to the US in 1955 to give her daughter a better life, and she labored in factories, shops, and as a banquet waitress to find her American dream. She cared for others ceaselessly, whether she was making an extra lunch for a child at her granddaughter's school who didn’t have one or giving a friend a ride. In her last years, she was lovingly cared for by her daughter and son-in-law in their home with the help of Ted, Tess, and Priscilla from Heart to Heart hospice.
Her Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at the Church of The Holy Family, 11804 S. Saginaw St., Grand Blanc, MI with Fr. Joseph Krupp officiating. Inurnment at White Chapel Cemetery with family at a later date.
