Patricia A. Minshall (Cameron) of Flushing, age 85, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, July 17, 2020. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:30 PM on Saturday, August 1, 2020, at Brown Funeral Home in Grand Blanc, Michigan. A private memorial service will follow from 3:30 to 4:00 PM, with Reverend Paul Ytterrock of First Presbyterian Church of Flint presiding. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society on behalf of Mrs. Minshall. Patricia was born on March 6, 1935, in Ypsilanti, Michigan, the eldest daughter of William and Lucile (Van Wert) Cameron. She graduated from Sturgis High School and later attended Alma College, where she studied English and met Thomas Minshall. Following his graduation from Alma College, Thomas and Patricia married on June 18, 1955. Shortly after, Patricia relocated to Hazel Park after Thomas was drafted into the United States Army and resided with her in-laws to finish her bachelor’s degree at Wayne State University. Later, Patricia received her master’s degree in English from the University of Michigan as well as her teaching certification. Patricia was an educator, community member, and active public servant for more than 60 years, touching countless lives through her dedication to education and faith. As an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Flint, Patricia served as a deacon, elder, and trustee, played the English handbells for the church’s Bell Choir, and sang in the Chancel Choir and Flint Festival Chorus. She was also an accomplished pianist and spent more than 30 years teaching piano from her Flushing home. Patricia’s interests were diverse and expansive. A devotee of the theater, she never missed the annual Shakespeare Festival in Stratford, Ontario, where she saw innumerable performances of the Bard’s plays. She was also a passionate sports fan and a faithful supporter of her beloved University of Michigan Wolverines, attending many of their games over the years. While Patricia was fiercely dedicated to her community and wide-ranging interests, she valued family above all. She was a devoted mother, grandparent, and friend, spreading her love, kindness, brilliant wit, and wholehearted compassion to those closest to her. She will be eternally missed. Surviving are three sons: Thomas, Michael (Leanne Carlson), and Robert (Corinne) Minshall; nine grandchildren: Alycia, Joshua, Nicholas, Jacob, Sophie, Marissa, William, Samantha, and Remy; one sister: Kay Akins; and nieces and nephews. Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas, on April 8, 2012. Share your condolences with the family at www.brownfh.com.

I knew Tom and Pat through singing with Tom in the Carolyn Mawby Chorale. We had sectional rehearsals at their home when Pat would accompany. We traveled together to concerts up north. They were great gifts to the Church and to music, as well as good friends. May they harmonize together in the heavenly choir, and greet Carolyn for us.
