OBITUARY

Ida Faye Dice

October 26, 1941September 25, 2020

Ida Faye Dice passed away on Friday, September 25, 2020, at her home in Grand Coulee, Washington surrounded by close family and love.

Faye was born on October 26, 1941, in Mason City, Washington to Jack and Edna (Shaffer) Flowers. Faye was the granddaughter of two local pioneer families, the Whiteley’s and the Shaffer’s. She loved spending time at the Shaffer Ranch. A special childhood memory was spending Friday evenings watching Alfred Hitchcock Presents with her mother and sister. She grew to love scary movies. Faye was a majorette in Junior High and High School. Faye graduated from Grand Coulee High School in 1959.

In 1960 Faye’s car broke down coming home from the Shaffer Ranch. Gaylen Dice stopped to help. Her knight and shining armor became the love of her life. Faye and Gaylen married on January 28, 1961 and spent nearly 60 years together.

Faye ran Doxie’s Drive Inn in Wilbur, was a Deputy Sheriff in Lincoln County and worked for the Grant County PUD. After Gaylen retired they spent time living in different parts of the country Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, and Oregon. After all their travels the couple chose to spend their remaining years in the place, they called home, Grand Coulee, where for the last 20 years they managed the Lakeview Terrace Trailer Park.

Faye leaves behind her husband Gaylen Dice; her five sons: Troy, William, John, Wayne, and Dan (Nicole). Her 15 grandchildren: Quinn, Cody, Kayla, Kristi, Josh, Harlie, Dalton, Walker, Payton, Dustin, Brady, Makaylah, Ashley, Carlie, and Paige. Her 13 great-grandchildren: Nevaeh, Bailee, Kennedy, Jordan, Alaina, Becca, Maia, Oakleigh, Brenan, Jaxon, Lillian, Raygan, and Bentlie; her sister Joyce Rhone, brother John Flowers, numerous nieces and nephews, and her lifelong friend Diane Canady.

Faye was preceded in death by her daughter Torrie Ellen; her parents Jack and Edna Flowers; her sisters June Alvey, Jackie Hildenbrand, and Dorothy Flowers-Lawrence.

A private family service was already held on September 26, 2020 at Strate Funeral home in Grand Coulee.

In lieu of flowers, donating to charities geared towards military and law enforcement in her behalf would be nice.
