Rest in peace Emma. Please say hi to my dad whom passed 06 Dec 2023. You will always be remembered. Whether it was doing crafts at HHV, bowling with the Veterans Bowling League or aiding and joining with us at the Golden Age Games.

I can relate with your son Mike in what he may be going through at this time.

Try and keep your chin up Mike. Your mom is no longer in any pain nor discomfort.

What an amazing lady!  Your open heart to take me into your family will never be forgotten! All of our phone calls — me doing most of the talking. You were a great listener and gave great advice. You and dad (aka Walt) - gave my son Justin great grandparents!!! Such good memories!!! Time sure does fly. I will miss you immensely! May you rest in peace!  Love, Barbie

Emma won first place on this bear statue in the National Veterans' Creative Arts Festival. She enjoyed being creative and crafting was a great skill for her. As she began to loose her vision, I enjoyed helping to find bear photos and paint colors to help her get the final results on this figurine. The outcome was incredible, she did an amazing job, and had a lot of fun in the process!

Emma was established as one of the first HHV volunteers in 2013. She, and her son, Mike, were among those that helped to establish the Craft Center in Grand Junction.

My heart hurts for the family of Emma. She was such a special soul. Emma was the first woman veteran I was able to work with back when there just weren't many women getting services at the VA. She had no problem being the only woman in the groups, befriending many, and telling the others what they could do about it, if they didn't like it! She was a no-nonsense woman with a sailor's sense of humor. She loved her family, and was proud of them all. She loved making the crafts from HHV into gifts for family and enjoyed personalizing each one just right for the intended recipient.  I feel blessed for having known her, and for the friendship that we've shared long after I left working with veterans.  My deepest sympathy to you all.
