Brinda Hampton was born on January 14, 1952 in Dallas, Texas to Vernell and Geraldine McClatchy. She left us on April 2, 2013. She is survived by her husband Richard Hampton, four children; Stephen Sims, Christine Renee Jolly, Rhonda Abuhatab, and Brandy LoVaglio; eight grandchildren, Brinda Renee, Jessica, Jamie, Nadia, Ahmed, Abed, Angela and Hana; four great grandchildren: Emmaliya, Payton Lane, Mariah, and Richard Jr; mother Geraldine McClatchy and three brothers Bubba McClatchy, Donnie McClatchy, and Dennis McClatchy. She is preceded in death by her father Vernell McClatchy.
Brinda proudly served in the army for a few years. She was a single mom that raised her children to respect God, family and honor. She met Richard Hampton in 1985 and married her soul mate on May 22, 1987 in Nashville, Tennessee. Together the two built a life together based on love, trust, and true friendship. In 26 years of marriage, the two never spent anytime apart, except for Richard’s training session at Steris Corporation when he traveled to Eerie, Pennsylvania and the yearly mother-daughter weekends spent with her mother and daughter in Louisiana.
Brinda found her first job at E H Teasley when she was 16 and was a dedicated employee/family member through three generations of the Teasley’s. Everyone at the company as well as her customers became an extended family to her.
Richard and Brinda bought their first house in Grand Prairie, Texas in which they created a loving home and family life focusing on their children and grandchildren.
For Brinda, family and work were important factors that she focused on and passed this work ethic on to her children. For leisure time, she and Richard spent a lot of time camping and fishing at the Brazos River, until Richard stood up in the canoe and dumped it over. She kept going down and he finally got her up and to the canoe. Later he found out, that she couldn’t swim. They never went camping again. After that, they spent their time focusing on their children and grandchildren.
Brinda was diagnosed with liver cancer during the summer of 2012 and was a perfect candidate for a liver transplant surgery. She went into surgery on December 10, 2012 and due to unforeseen circumstances had many complications. Her strong will to live can be attested by the fight she fought to survive. In the end, there were too many factors and she lost the fight on April 2, 2013. Brinda’s showed unending love and compassion to everyone she met. She was a truly great person that will be missed by all.
God Bless you Brinda Hampton, Rest in Peace and in the arms of our Savior.
