Yvonne Markwardt

Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband, love of her life, Edward “Hoot” Markwardt in August 2008, her sister Alline, and her parents, Floyd “Pop” & Hertha Toliver.

Yvonne was born January 30, 1933 in Comfort, TX to Floyd Price Toliver and Hertha Stahmann Toliver. They moved to Fort Worth in 1938.

Yvonne attended Amon Carter Riverside High School, where she was a cheerleader. She graduated in 1951. After graduation she worked for Southwestern Bell and Striplings Parking Garage.

Yvonne married Edward “Hoot” Markwardt on Jan 7, 1955 and they lived in Fort Worth, TX until the family moved to Grand Prairie in 1967. Yvonne worked at Gibsons Discount Center in Grand Prairie as an accountant/bookkeeper/buyer until it closed in 2003.

During retirement Yvonne and Hoot loved traveling throughout the United States playing Senior Softball Tournaments with their softball family. Yvonne also enjoyed time with family, attending her grandkids sporting activities, having Friday breakfasts with long-time GP friends, get togethers with her high school girlfriends, her exercise classes at the Summit Senior Center, and one of her most favorite past times was antique shopping and tea room lunches with her sister and best friend, Jeanette.

Yvonne is survived by her 7 children & spouses, Vicki & Dennis Kerr, Edward Markwardt III, Kenneth and Jess Markwardt, Sherri & Jim Green, Cathy & Wayne Tyler, Kevin Markwardt, and Mark & Tiffany Markwardt, 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and her sister, Jeanette Wilson. She was the most wonderful Mom, Grandma and friend and will be forever with us in our hearts.

Our Mom lived a wonderful full life. She fought for five months and was tired. She wanted to go to Heaven to be with the Lord and our Dad. We were with her when she passed, listening to one of her favorite Elvis hymns. She is at peace now. We were so blessed to have her as a mother.
