OBITUARY

Judith Ann Gorkowski

August 15, 1946November 10, 2020

Judith Ann Gorkowski (Hauck) went to be with her Lord on November 10, 2020 after her battle with Alzheimer’s. Born on August 15, 1946 to John and Edith Hauck, she was the oldest of five children and often went by the nickname of “DeeDee” or “Deed”. She grew up in Grand Rapids and in 1964 she graduated from Creston High School.

The following year, she married the love of her life, Henry. They settled on the northeast side of Grand Rapids where they raised their two children. Judy loved her family and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sibling, aunt and friend. Judy was a life-long woman of faith. She was an active member serving her church community and a Eucharistic minister at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She worked for many years as the church office manager at Central Reformed Church where she made many lifelong friends.

She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family at many lakes, cottages and beaches in Michigan. Most memorable was her kind, caring and loving spirit. Judy touched the heart of everyone she met. She loved being a grandma, going to the theatre, playing “Tonk”, attending book-club, sending greetings to everyone for every occasion, visiting the Upper Peninsula, laughing and enjoying time with her family and many friends. Judy was a woman in charge and worked to make everything perfect for the people around her, which led her family to lovingly refer to her as "Sarge".

Judith is survived by her husband of 55 years, Henry, her children; Steven (Laura) and Ann, her siblings; Susan Dood (Robert), Chris Hauck, and Scott Hauck (Renee), grandchildren; Sarah and Matthew along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Judith was preceded in death by her parents John Hauck (father), Edith “Edie” Easterday (mother), and Clarence Easterday (step-father). She was also preceded in death by her sister, Sally Stevens and step-sisters Nancy Muller and Judy Dickson.

A Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, November 14 at 11 AM at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 2275 Diamond Ave NE. Visitation will take place one hour prior at the church. Following the Funeral Mass, Judith will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church or Alzheimer’s Association of West Michigan.
