Marlene Louise “Brown” Van Luinen, 64 of Grand Rapids, passed away on Wednesday June 5, 2019. Born on July 13, 1954 to James Brown and Elizabeth “Losey” Brown. United in marriage on April 21, 1976 to James Van Luinen. Survived by her husband of 43 years, James Van Luinen, son Robert (Brooke) Brown, Sean “Weir” Van Luinen, Lisa “ Weir” Van Luinen and Brent “ Weir” Van Luinen. Grandchildren Alexis and Michael Brown. Also survived by mother in law Alice Van Luinen, brother David (Sharon), sister Rose (Vern) and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents James Brown and Betty E. “Losey” Brown, father in law Jacobus Van Luinen and grandmother Carolyn Losey. Marlene worked for Steelcase as a welder for 8 years and then became a nurse aide, working at Spectrum Health and Metron of Forest Hills. She is described as a true friend with a heart of gold who loved to help others. Marlene was a very unique woman who wasn’t afraid to speak her mind. She was an avid collector of snowbabies. She will be dearly missed. Memorial Visitation for Marlene will be on Saturday June 15, 2019 from 12 p.m. until the time of a Memorial Celebration of Life Service at 2 p.m. at Reyers North Valley Chapel Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers please make donations to The American Cancer Society.
