Georgette "Joanne" Cable

Georgette “Joanne” Cable passed to her rest on September 24, 2022. She began her earthly journey on February 6, 1928 to George and Dahlia Graff in Rutland, South Dakota. She spent all of her childhood years living within miles of her birthplace. She was one of 5 children: Johnny, Jimmy, Polly, “Jo”, and Bobbi.

She grew up during the depression and World War II. She believed that gave her the good sense not to live beyond your means, to not take each day for granted, and to count your blessings.

“Jo” was a good student and graduated Valedictorian in her high school class, but school wasn’t everything. If there was a dance within 50 miles of her hometown she would jump in a car with friends and drive towards the music.

She met and married Orville “Cabe” Cable on June 2, 1948, and that would begin a life of moving and travel. Together they had 3 daughters: Barbara Ann, Dana Dale, and Laurie Lee. They had the good fortune of being married for 43 years before his passing. Carrying her widowhood for over 31 years, she has kept Cabe’s love and memory alive in her heart.

All 3 daughters survive her: Barbara Barnard, Dana Cable, and Laurie (Greg) Peckham; 1 beloved grandson: David Barnard (Katie), and 4 beautiful Great-Granddaughters: Ava, Kate, Remy, and Elena.

She is also survived by her sister and closest friend: Bobbi Jones, along with numerous nephews and nieces, and more friends than can be counted.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville “Cabe” Cable, both parents, George and Dahlia, and 3 of her siblings: Johnny, Jimmy, and Polly.

Services: Friday, 9/30/2022: 9:30am Visitation, 11:00am Service, Graveside service at Longview Cemetery.
