Bonnie Deloris Conard
September 21, 1938 – January 24, 2019
Bonnie Deloris (Hanks) Conard, age 80, passed away in her home in Grants Pass, OR on January 24, 2019. She will be buried with her husband at the Eagle Point National Cemetery.
The second of six children, Bonnie was born on September 21, 1938 in Brawley, CA to parents Herbert Elsner Hanks and Dartha Zelma (Franks) Hanks. Bonnie valued the power of education. After graduating with honors from Brawley High School, she continued her lifelong journey with learning by graduating from Westmont College, becoming a teacher. Bonnie went on to teach in elementary education, and became the administrator of several Christian Schools: Covenant Christian School, Chula Vista, CA; Eugene Christian School, Eugene, OR; Grace Baptist School, Riverside, CA. Even in “retirement”, she serviced the homeschooling community by becoming a test administrator, eventually working for Rogue Community College. She married Larry Dean Conard on August 29, 1959. The couple had one child together.
Bonnie lived a life in service to Christ. In addition to being the helpmate to her husband, the Reverend Larry Conard, in pastoring numerous churches, she used her gift at the piano to help with worship, taught Sunday School, and helped mentor others. Her husband often used her as an example of a modern Proverbs 31 wife, mother, woman.
Survivors include her son Jeffrey D. Conard; grandchildren Sarah Conard, Rachel (Conard) Martin, Jacob Conard; and is also survived by his brothers James Cleo, Paul Mark, and George Lewis Hanks.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and two brothers: Orbia Elsner and Herbert Lee Hanks. Chapel of the Valley-L.B. Hall is entrusted with the arrangements.
