

Born on March 4, 1929 in Filer, Idaho, Elsie grew up in Molalla, Oregon. She married Richard (Dick) Mengershausen on September 3, 1948. In 1962 Elsie moved to Grants Pass, Oregon where she and Dick partnered with Don and Inez Lauber to operate Dick and Don’s OK Tire Store.
Elsie was a dedicated and loving wife to her late husband Dick and a devoted mother to her children. Elsie loved God with all her heart and put her trust in Jesus. She desired that each member of her family also put their trust in Jesus and consistently prayed for them. She had a passion for gardening and providing a safe place for family and friends to gather. Her children, grandchildren, great and great-great-grandchildren loved her dearly and have many fond memories of their time with her.
Elsie is survived by her sisters Goldie Heyerley and Jewell Nelson, her children Gary (Janet) Mengershausen, William (Karolyn) Mengershausen, Donavon Mengershausen, Joann Lammers (Tim),and Roger (Lisa) Mengershausen. She has 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard, her daughter Colleen Sharer, her son Robert Mengershausen, daughter-in laws Theresia (Gary) and Kathy (Robert) and her great granddaughter Isabelle Schutz.
A viewing will be held at Chapel of the Valley Funeral Home on Friday February 14 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, with a memorial service to be held at Foots Creek chapel in Gold Hill on Saturday, February 15 at 2:00 PM.
