Edna was born on September 6, 1937 in Kingsland, Arkansas to parents Hugh and Katie Offutt. She was the youngest of six children.
After graduating from Kingsland High School and taking business classes at Texas Women’s University, Edna began working as a bank teller in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. It was here that she met the love of her life, Robert George Heap. The couple married on December 31, 1959 in Pine Bluff, honeymooned at the Grand Canyon, then relocated to Pittsburg, California. Robert began work as a chemical engineer at Shell Oil, while Edna worked as a bank teller at Wells Fargo.
In 1963, Robert took a position at Morton Thiokol, and the couple relocated to Marshall, Texas. It was here that Edna gave birth to her two children - Susan Renee on July 30, 1964, and George Edmund on September 7, 1967.
Edna was a sweet, kind, and loving person who was beloved by many. She enjoyed playing bridge, working with her flowers, being involved in St. Marks Methodist Church, and, more than anything else, cleaning house.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Hugh, Rex, John Paul, and Joseph Offutt, and sister Evelyn Howell. She is survived by daughter Susan Heap and son Edmund Heap.
