OBITUARY

Eileen B. Chapin

April 30, 1923September 30, 2018

Eileen Chapin, 95, wife of Ralph Chapin, passed away at home with family on September 30, 2018. She is survived by five children, Lynn, Brooks, Dan, Roy, and Jed, a son-in-law, five daughters-in-law, eleven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and sister Fran. She was preceded in death by husband Ralph, son Larry, brother Edward, and sister Patricia.

Eileen moved from Iowa to Denver in 1944, as a business college graduate, then on to Greeley in 1963. She served as a long-time volunteer in Greeley-many years with the Weld County Hospital gift shop, in addition to Meals on Wheels, UCCC, and RSVP. She was a member of Red Hats and of Syncopation Station tap dance.

Eileen experienced great joy in traveling, exploring, and seeking new adventures.

Vietnam Veterans of America, PBS, and Alzheimer’s Association were her favorite charities. She also benefitted from Good Days Assistance Program, a non-profit charity providing assistance to patients diagnosed with chronic or life-altering disease. Over the past year, Good Days covered the expense of Eileen’s costly eye injections related to macular degeneration.

For those wishing to attend, a memorial service will be at 11:30 A.M. on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church 2222 23rd Avenue, Greeley.

A simple, family hosted reception in celebration of Eileen’s life will be held at Candlewood Suites in Greeley, from 1:00-3:00 P.M. on Thursday, November 8, following the memorial service.

I will always remember your mom with a smile on her face, she was such a great person and mom to all of you . I can see her sitting across the street in the shade from the Greeley Central Tennis courts watching the boys play tennis (she always had the best snacks), she was always a great support to her kids no matter what activity they were involved in. She was an extraordinary women, she will be missed by all

Your mom was so kind and new how to handle any situation with grace and aplomb, which she needed with 5 boys and a girl. From having a sleep over on the trampoline to footballs crashing through the front glass door of your house, to the fabulous 4th of July parties she and Ralph hosted for many years..... many wonderful memories.

We are sending our sympathy. It's always hard to lose a parent. We didn't know her personally but Kay would talk dearly of all of her cousins. They all had a special place in her heart. Please know are thoughts and prayers are with you.
The family of Kathleen White Steffen (cousin to Eileen).
