When Kathryn was quite young her parents moved their family to Kendrick, Idaho. She grew up there and attended the Kendrick Elementary and Kendrick High school. Soon after she started her freshman year in high school she took her first real job as the night operator at the Kendrick telephone office. She worked there until graduating high school.
After graduating high school she attended the Lewiston Business College in Lewiston, Idaho. In 1951 she took a job in the business office at the University of Idaho. She worked there for three years leaving to get married.
She met her future husband, Kenneth Dale Wohllaib, from Twin Falls, Idaho who was a student at the University. They both attended the same church in Moscow, Idaho and were in the same young adult group.
Kathryn and Kenneth were married on June 4, 1954 in Kendrick, Idaho. Kenneth graduated from the University of Idaho on June 6, 1954 and they left the following day to move to Camden, New Jersey where Kenneth had accepted a job with RCA.
In August 1954 Kenneth was called into the Air Force. The next couple of years they moved around quite a bit so Kenneth could train in different air planes to become a jet pilot.
After getting his discharge from the Air Force in 1963 Kenneth returned to school at the University of Idaho to get his Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering. During this time Kathryn went back to work in the business office at the University. In 1965 they moved to Auburn, Washington as Kenneth had accepted a job with Boeing Company in Seattle, Washington.
While living in Auburn, Kathryn was very active in her church; taught a Sunday school class, assisted vacation bible school during the summer and was in the women’s missionary group. She was also in a bowling league team.
When her family moved to Texas in 1972, Kathryn took a full time job in the business office of an office supply company. She worked there until she retired in 1987. Her family moved to Colorado in July 1998. They first lived in Johnstown, CO then moved to Greeley, CO in 2004. October 2016 Kathryn moved to Cheyenne, WY to be closer to her son David.
Preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Kenneth, her son David Lee Wohllaib, her parents Ed and Lulu Brown, her twin brother Kenneth Ray Brown, her sister Pearl Jensen, her sister Violet Osborn, her brother Donald Brown, and one granddaughter, Jade Lindsey Wohllaib.
Kathryn is survived by her son, Douglas Wohllaib and his wife Rachel of Alvin, Texas; daughter, Diann Wohllaib of Cheyenne, Wyoming; son, David Wohllaib’s wife Debbie of Laramie, Wyoming; six grandchildren; eight step grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 12:30-01:30 pm Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at Stoddard Funeral Home, 3205 West 28th Street, Greeley, Colorado 80634. Graveside service will be 2:00 pm Wednesday at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
