Lorena grew up in Fleming, Colorado, graduating from Fleming High School. She met her husband, Dwight J. Simmons, while employed at Public Service Co. They were married on November 9, 1947 in Sterling and moved to Greeley in 1948. In 1958, Lorena began working at First National Bank (which later became Wells Fargo) as the Vault Custodian. She retired in 1985.
Lorena loved playing bridge and was a huge Broncos fan with season tickets dating back to the 1960s. She also loved spending time with her family. In 2012, she moved in with her son, Brad and daughter-in-law, Sue. She especially enjoyed Sunday dinner with the whole family. In November 2018, she moved to Garden Square in Greeley.
Lorena is survived by her sons, Douglas Simmons of Ft. Collins and Brad Simmons (Sue) of Greeley; grandchildren, Meredith Taylor (Steve), Curt Simmons (Amie) and Carrie Frost (Spencer) and seven great-grandchildren, Rory, Emma, Elijah, Sophia, Gabi, Corbin and Grayson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dwight, who died on September 29, 2002; mother, Ada and grandson, Matthew.
Graveside service at Sunset Memorial Gardens at 11:00 am Wednesday, October 23rd
