Christmas at Uncle Leon's farm was always a highlight of the year. All the cousins getting together, catching up with family, and playing pool downstairs was a blast. Card games would go on deep into the night playing pinochle. It was a dangerous game, one mistake and you would get yelled at by your partner and the opposing team.....but it was a blast.

Leon was a wonderful man and I cherish all of the memories that I have had with him. Leon had a love for people like no one that I have ever met. He opened up his heart and home to all people and genuinely enjoyed being around others. I met Leon my freshman year of high school when I started helping him and Donna mow. Who knew that mowing cemeteries could be so much fun but Leon made it fun. He was without a doubt North Putnam lady cougar's biggest fan and showed his support proudly. Leon and Donna will forever hold a special place in my heart. Some of my fondest memories with Leon include learning how to filet fish, fishing, eating Tilapia at L&M on Friday nights, mowing (of course), attending an Amish wedding, jumping off of the lighthouse, riding on the pontoon boat, and listening to ALL of his stories- he had a lot of stories! I know he was proud to have Donna as his caretaker in the final years of his life as she was truly the love of his life. Thank you for making life fun Leon! You will never be forgotten. My love and prayers are with Donna and the rest of the family.

Heaven has gained quite a saint this week. I am glad to say that I've known Leon all my life. A great mentor, leader, and most importantly a man of God. He is one of those that I am looking forward to having long conversations with when we meet again in heaven.
