She had worked at John M. Reed Nursing Home and Durham Hensley Health and Rehab for 36
years. She also was a grandparent at Glenwood Elementary School as long as her health
permitted and was called “Miss Marie”.
She attended Hartman’s Chapel United Methodist Church as long as her health permitted. Marie loved church and sang with the Calvary Five from Calvary Baptist Church for many years and also taught children’s Sunday School Classes.
Driving through the countryside was her favorite pastime.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years (they would have celebrated another anniversary Sunday,
May 20, 2018): Kenneth Miller; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Jerry and Margaret Babb of
Greeneville, Ruben and Louise Babb of Blountville; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law: Johnny
Miller of Bristol, Helen Bowens of Gate City, Peggy Jones of Greeneville, Katherine Miller of
Bristol; several nieces and nephews; and special friends: Kathryn McIntyre, Sharon Seay, Milton and
Diane Parham, Jerry and Jenny Scalf.
She was the daughter of the late Lucien and Ethel Babb and was preceded in death by three sisters: Mary Blaylock, Lillian White and Alice Tolley; and one brother, Joe Babb.
The family will receive friends 1-3 pm Tuesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will follow at 3 pm Tuesday in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Jim Fain and Rev. John Grimm will officiate.
Interment will be in Liberty Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her nephews and church members.
