A graveside service will be held Monday, 11:00 a.m., November 29, 2021 at Forest Lawn Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. at First Friends Meeting. Friends will be received following the memorial service in the church fellowship hall.
Carson was born April 24, 1927 in Greensboro, the son of Carson Hollowell Grantham, Sr. and Bertha Jacobs Grantham.
Carson was a veteran of the US Coast Guard and a graduate of NC State University with a degree in architectural engineering. He was employed for his father and uncle at Grantham Hardware before opening his own company, Grantham Builders Hardware Company on Grecade Street. Carson was a lifelong member of First Friends Meeting, a member of the Gate City Kiwanis Club and a former board member of the Friends Homes Board of Trustees.
In addition to his parents, Carson was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Brooks Grantham.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Johanna Grantham (Michael Callahan), Brooks Grantham and Beth Chambers (Jay); grandchildren, Hollowell Watson (Trent) and Grantham Bennett Chambers; great granddaughter, Emmett Hollowell Watson.
The family asks with gratitude, in lieu of flowers, that memorials in Carson’s name be made to the Bridges to the Future Capital Campaign for the Friends Homes Connector Bridge; Friends Homes, Inc., 925 New Garden Rd., Greensboro, NC 27410; Attn: Sarah Barker.
