John J. Alexander, 77, of Climax, NC died October 13, 2021. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother and friend but most of all, he was a mentor to all. His loving yet stubborn nature made him a natural leader to all he met. Everyone wanted to make him proud. It was hard to get his approval but once you did you felt like you were on top of the world. Any time someone needed help, he was there. He taught all of us that we can make it on our own but that life is better when we help one other!

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Sharon Alexander; brother Bob; sister Nancy; his children Mike (TeeCee) Alexander and Tracy (Tracey) Payne; Grandchildren Charity (David) Moore, Katie Alexander, Carie (Cedric) McLendon, Justin (Sherrill) Crews, Austin (Cherri) Crews, and Dustin (Brooke) Crews; Great grandchildren Jacob, Maddy, Lila, Abbi, Aubri, Karma, Corbin, Dakota, Jamie, Austin, Jonathan, Cayden, Asher, Gabriel, Railyn, and Taylor; as well as many nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his twin brother Jim and eldest son John.

Services will be held on Friday, October 22 at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services, 1900 Vanstory Street, Greensboro, NC. Viewing from 12:00-2:00 pm with the service following at 2:00 pm in the chapel.

Story Time…. One morning I called John and Charlie to the Dietary because I needed an oven lit. The pilot light kept going out on it. John and Charlie are down on their hands and knees and I’m standing right there stirring something up on the stove top… about that time all I heard was a boom and fire came from the side of the oven where I was at… I look down and John and Charlie were getting back up… poor Charlie his hair was smoking the look on Johns face was Absolutely Priceless after we all got over the shock we laughed oh my word did we laugh! Charlie asked me where was I jumping to because I jumped in the air several feet. And through it all I can still see John patting down Charlie’s hair. I hope this helped Johns family with just one of many Precious memories that was John. Caring, Compassionate, Loving, Leader, Father Figure and Friend. May God bring comfort to his family. Rest In Peace Dear Friend.

John was a special man, I worked with him for many years at Brian Center aka Randolph Health and Rehab. John always had a smile and a kind word, I thought the world of him as did everyone he worked with. I am sad for the family for your loss. Sending prayers to you all.
