Myrtle Hughes Henderson

Mrs. Myrtle Hughes Henderson, 89, passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Hospice House of High Point. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 W. Gate City Blvd. in Greensboro, with Pastor Don Newman officiating. Myrtle will be laid to rest next to her late husband in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery immediately following the funeral services. The family will receive friends the night before on Friday, October 15, 2021 at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 pm. Myrtle was born on October 17, 1931 in High Point, NC to the late Earl and Jessie Hughes. She was a life-long member of St. John’s United Methodist Church where she was actively involved in the Women’s Circle. Myrtle retired from Lincoln Financial Group (previously Jefferson Pilot Life Insurance Company). She was a member of the Greensboro Moose Lodge #685, Woodmen of the World, and volunteered with the American Red Cross for numerous years. She loved to travel and spend time with family, friends, and her church family. In addition to her parents, Myrtle was preceded in life by her husband of 51 years, Wesley George Henderson, Sr. and her daughter, Joy Henderson Cox. Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Wesley George Henderson, Jr.; four grandchildren, Derrick Henderson, Tiffany Slater, Tera Matulia and Connor Henderson; nine great-grandchildren; and two nieces, Charlene Spivey and Sherry Hall.
