Mrs. Yvonne J. Clontz of Greensboro passed away quietly at Beacon Place with her family by her side, Monday, July 12, 2021. A memorial service will be at 10 AM, Tuesday, July 20 at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm chapel with inurnment to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Monday, July 19 at the funeral home.
She was born and raised in Greensboro to immigrant parents where she graduated from Notre Dame High School and went on to study and get her nursing degree at Belmont Abbey College and Mercy School of Nursing in Charlotte. She pursued her passion in nursing for many years in Charlotte and Greensboro, until forced to retire after 17 years from Wesley Long Memorial Hospital due to medical issues. She had a heart of gold and would help anyone in need. Always taking care of family or friends when they were sick and needed her. Her other passion was cooking. She loved to have gatherings at the house for family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Mr. Jim Clontz; daughters, Ms. Donna Gainous and Ms. Debbie Flannagan; son, Mr. Kent Clontz all from Greensboro; grandchildren, Justin Flannagan (Kendall), Ashley James (John) and Caitlin Clontz; great grandchildren, Mason, Lincoln, Mackenzie and Grayson; siblings, Ms. Doris J Owens and Mr. Phillip Matthew Joseph (Cindy); and sister-in-law, Mrs. Helen Joseph. She had many nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces, and a great- great niece. She was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip and Eva Joseph; brother, Mr. Fred Joseph; and granddaughter, Miss Danielle Roberts.
The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful staff at both Wesley Long Hospital 6 East Floor and Beacon Place for taking such great care of her during her final days.
In lieu of flowers the family asks memorial contributions in Yvonne’s memory be made to Beacon Place, 2502 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
